Returns & Warranty

Last edited: September 2026

Two different policies apply to LeanLight orders:

  • Returns cover unused stock you decide not to keep, plus items we shipped wrong or that arrive damaged.
  • Warranty covers manufacturing defects after the return window. LeanLight provides a 30-day seller warranty. Many products also carry a longer manufacturer warranty, shown on the product page.

Return window and eligibility

  • Window: 30 days from the purchase date for most stock items.
  • Condition: Unused, uninstalled, and in the original manufacturer carton with all accessories and paperwork.
  • Not returnable: Special-order, cut-to-order, or custom-configured products; installed or used items; products missing labels or damaged original packaging; gift cards; original outbound shipping charges.
  • Electrical components: Ballasts, drivers, sensors, and retrofit kits cannot be returned once installed.

Who pays return shipping

  • Change of mind / over-order: You pay return freight. A restocking fee may apply on unused stock; we will confirm it before you ship.
  • Defective, DOA, missing parts, or wrong item: LeanLight pays return shipping after we approve the request. Do not ship until you have a label or RMA.
  • Freight damage: Inspect the shipment on delivery. Note visible damage on the bill of lading. For concealed damage, contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos of the product and packaging.

How to start a return

  1. Fastest: log in at account.leanlight.com, open the order, and submit the return.
  2. Or email customerservice@leanlight.com or call (800) 514-1735 with the order number, SKU, and reason.
  3. Send photos for damage or defects.
  4. Wait for approval. Unauthorized returns may be refused.
  5. After we receive and inspect the item, refunds, replacements, or store credit are typically processed within 5–7 business days.

Warranty

Every LeanLight order includes a 30-day seller warranty for defects or performance issues out of the box. After that, coverage follows the manufacturer warranty printed on the product page.

Typical manufacturer periods (always confirm on the product page):

Brand Typical coverage Notes
Keystone 3–5 years by product Residential-grade ballasts often 3 years; commercial electronic ballasts, LED tubes, and drivers often 5 years.
Sylvania / LEDVANCE Usually 5 years on professional LED fixtures, tubes, and drivers Consumer lamps and décor fixtures can be shorter. Labor is not included.
Halco Usually 5 years on commercial LED fixtures and many LED lamps Life-safety and some lamp lines differ. Replacement or credit only; no labor.
Leviton 2, 5, 10 years, or limited lifetime Varies by device. Occupancy sensors are commonly 5 years. See the product page.
LeanLight house products 30-day seller warranty + manufacturer years on the product page Many fixtures list a 5-year limited manufacturer warranty.

Warranties cover defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and rated conditions. They do not cover miswiring, incompatible dimmers or ballasts, use outside the product rating, water in a dry- or damp-rated product, unauthorized modification, or labor, lift, or reinstall time.

Manufacturer warranty claims

If the item is past the 30-day seller window but still inside the manufacturer period, send us the order number, SKU, install date if known, and photos. We will either process the claim for you or point you to the manufacturer portal and stay on the claim.
