How do I know which LED product is compatible with my fixture?
Each product page has specifications, compatibility notes, and installation requirements. Review the specs tab and data sheet first. If you’re unsure, send us the fixture details and we’ll recommend a fit.
How do I get technical help with my product?
Start with the specifications tab and data sheet on the product page. After that, use live chat, customerservice@leanlight.com, or (800) 514-1735. Product pages also include customer Q&A.
How do I receive a rebate for my product?
Many DLC-certified LEDs qualify for utility rebates. Ask your local utility about their lighting program. You’ll usually need proof of purchase and the DLC number from the product page. Email customerservice@leanlight.com if you need help identifying eligible products.
How do I replace fluorescent tubes with LED?
Three common paths: Type A plug-and-play with the existing ballast, Type B ballast-bypass (remove the ballast), or a full fixture swap to integrated LED. The right method depends on the fixture and ballast. Tube product pages include compatibility and install notes, or we can walk you through it.
What is the difference between watts and lumens?
Watts = energy used. Lumens = light produced. With LEDs, more watts does not automatically mean more light. Shop lumens for brightness and watts for energy use. Both are listed on each product page.
What is color temperature and which should I choose?
Color temperature is measured in Kelvin. 2700K–3000K is warm (hospitality, retail). 3500K–4000K is cool white (offices, schools). 5000K–6500K is daylight (warehouses, manufacturing, outdoor). Most commercial and industrial jobs use 4000K or 5000K.
What is CRI and why does it matter?
CRI (0–100) is how accurately a lamp shows color versus sunlight. 80+ is good for most commercial work. 90+ is better for retail, healthcare, and color-critical spaces. CRI is listed on each product page.
Are your LED products dimmable?
Many are, not all. Dimmability is in the specs on each product page. Use a compatible LED dimmer — old incandescent dimmers can flicker. We can help match products and dimmers.
How long do LED lights last?
Most commercial-grade LEDs are rated 50,000+ hours — over 11 years of continuous use, or decades of typical commercial duty. Rated life is on the product page.
What is IP rating and why does it matter?
IP (Ingress Protection) scores dust and moisture resistance. First digit = dust (0–6), second = water (0–9). IP65 is dust-tight and jet-water resistant — common for outdoor and wet locations. Check IP on the spec sheet before buying for parking lots, washdown, or weather-exposed areas.
What’s the difference between Type A, Type B, and Type A+B LED tubes?
Type A — plug-and-play with the existing ballast. Fast install, no rewire. Relies on ballast health and compatibility.
Type B — ballast-bypass. Rewire the fixture, remove the ballast. Better efficiency and less future maintenance.
Type A+B — hybrid. Works with a compatible ballast now, or on line voltage later.
Installation type is listed on each product page. Unsure? Send us the fixture details.
Do your products work with occupancy or motion sensors?
Many do. Some fixtures have built-in sensors; others accept external wiring. Check the product specs, or email customerservice@leanlight.com for sensor-compatible options.
What wattage do I need to replace my existing fixture?
Match lumens, not watts. Rough guide: 12–18W LED tube ≈ 32W fluorescent; 150W LED high bay ≈ 400W metal halide; 100W LED shoebox ≈ 250W HID. Equivalent wattage is listed on each product page.
